Bob Whittet -
Vice President Central Region

My mental health career began in 1971 helping children and youth at a psychiatric treatment center in Rochester, New York. After Obtaining my MSW from the University of Missouri in1976 accepted a clinical social work position at Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center in Columbia. During my tenure at MMMHC I provided both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as prevention/education programs. Became the Executive Director of Family Mental Health Center in Jefferson City in 1981 and helped develop the administrative agency outpatient programs for six central Missouri counties. In 1988 chaired the social work licensure committee for NASW and the following year a clinical social work licensure bill finally passed following 10 years of failed attempts. My next position was Program Development Coordinator for Family Counseling Center of Columbia from 1994 to 1998. For the past 13 years I have been Vice President of Central Operations for Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare. Most of my mental healthcare career has involved working in community mental health centers where the mission has been to help children and adults obtain access to coordinated and effective treatment services in the least restrictive environment possible, while helping them to address their behavioral health needs to live fulfilling lives to the best of their abilities.
