History

Pathways originally began in 1972 as Community Counseling Consultants (CCC), a task force for the Inter-Church Council in Clinton, Missouri, to address the lack of resources for treating substance abuse needs. By 1974, CCC was incorporated as a not-for-profit community mental health center. In 1987, Jerry D Osborn became CEO of the organization and began a fundraising drive that resulted in a new facility being built in Clinton to house an adolescent and adult residential substance abuse programs as well as other much needed mental health and prevention services. The facility was completed in 1992 and is our corporate headquarters.

In March of 1997 CCC joined with West Central Missouri Mental Health Center, located in Warrensburg, to form Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. Other opportunities to provide accessible services have since evolved and resulted in the addition of services previously provided by four other organizations: Southwest Missouri Mental Health Center, Family Mental Health Center, Family Oriented Counseling Services (FOCUS) and Royal Oaks Hospital, which continues to operate as an inpatient behavioral healthcare facility located in Windsor, Missouri.
Access to quality services for individuals in both rural and urban areas is important. Pathways now serves 30 counties through 34 office locations throughout southwest, west central, central, and south central Missouri.
