Comprehensive Substance Treatment and Rehabilitation
(CSTAR)
CSTAR is an intensive outpatient treatment program for substance abusers that
encompasses three levels of treatment. A client may enter at any level of intensity
and can move between levels as needed. Following a computerized assessment
and diagnosis, the client is assigned a counselor and a Community Support Specialist.
Treatment is individualized and based upon a holistic approach to recovery.
Treatment may also focus on such issues as co-dependency and family relationships.
Legal, mental, physical, employment, educational and spiritual issues may also
be addressed. Family members may also receive services as long as the primary
substance abuser is in treatment. These services include:
- individual or group counseling
- group education
- community support
- family therapy
- co-dependency counseling (individual and group)
- day treatment services
Outpatient Alcohol/Drug programs
Outpatient counseling for clients with substance abuse programs is available
at most of our sites. The Department of Mental Health and the Department of
Corrections contracts with Pathways to provide outpatient counseling for clients
and their families with substance abuse problems.
Substance Abuse Traffic Offenders Program (SATOP)
SATOP is an intervention program designed for persons who have committed traffic
offenses while under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. Its main purpose
is to intervene in the offenders' lives so that they do not continue to drink
or use and drive. Following the receipt of a DWI, the offender must successfully
complete SATOP in order for their driver's license to be reinstated. The
first step involves taking a Driver's Risk Inventory and then having a face-to-face
interview with a certified SATOP counselor who will determine an appropriate
level of intervention. SATOP program components include:
Offender Management Unit (OMU)-consists of the DRI test and counselor assessment.
Offender Education Program- (OEP) 10 hour hours of substance abuse education
Weekend Intervention Program (WIP) - 48 hours of education, films, lectures,
and small groups.
Clinical Intervention Program - 50 hours of individual counseling, group counseling
and group education.
Required Educational Assessment Community Treatment
Program (REACT)
REACT is a statewide network of comprehensive assessment, education and treatment
options designed for all first-time convicted felons of a drug-related crime.
It provides a range of education, intervention, and treatment based on the
results of the REACT Screening Unit (RSU), which consists of a face-to-face
interview with a REACT Counselor, completion of the Multi-Dimensional Addictions
and Personality Profile (MAAP), and a legal history provided by the Probation
and Parole office. According to the recommendations of the REACT counselor,
the individual would be referred to a 10-hour education group (REACT education
program) or to alcohol/drug treatment either outpatient or residential. |
